Becoming
A poem that looks at the cosmic process of becoming
A Poem
Becoming
The infinite eternally realised,
Through the finite prophesied,
Many thoughts made manifest,
Experienced in order to come at rest,
Within this eternal sleepless mind,
All thoughts become perfectly aligned.
Meditation For The Poem
Once an interest has sparked within each of us to come to understand the cosmos, which is something that we are all intrinsically a part of, our lives enter into a period of study and discovery. It is during this period that we come to understand many additional things which were not previously a part of our understanding. This part of the process is often a primarily intellectual pursuit though, as we start discovering the vast multitude of phenomena which are all part of the total experience of the cosmos but, in so doing, we usually fail to identify the fundamental principles that lie behind all of these more superficial elements.
At some point though, often as a result of having exhausted this intellectual approach, we eventually come to realise that it is not possible to know the cosmos in its entirety by only adopting such an approach as our primary tool of investigation. Engaging with another method and approach is required to arrive at a more integrated level of understanding and perception of things. It is at this point that our process starts to transform from something which is primarily based on the intellectual study of phenomena that exist external to us, to a process which is internal and based on our perception of things and the lived experience internally that arises within us as a result of our interaction with those things. In other words, in most cases, we begin to realise and verify these intellectual ideas internally as experiences in our lives.
