Does True Power Corrupt Absolutely?
Understanding what true power is helps us to see what effect it has on our actions
Absolute power cannot corrupt absolutely
A phrase we find being used often when referring to the dangers of power and those that search to gain power is that ‘absolute power corrupts absolutely’. This is typically a warning of sorts to those that would search for power, in that it is one’s very desire to want to have power which means that, if such an individual were to ever attain any power, they would be highly likely to misuse it. From a consciousness perspective, we can think that such an understanding of the situation is based on that individual’s search for power being driven by a block in their conscious perception which in turn results in the use of that power being in appropriate.
In other words, a person’s desire for power often arises as result of something that they feel that they are missing or because they feel that they are in competition to gain power with some external force. It is this internal lack of clarity that results in their conscious perception then becoming rooted in separation. Naturally then, attaining clearer states of perception will result in them being more likely to use any ‘power’ they do have in the most appropriate manner, primarily because their conscious perception is clear enough to perceive what that use of power would be.
