Understanding how our perception of value aids us with unifying our conscious perception

Life intrinsically holds a value; the onus falls upon us to uphold this value by recognising it within ourselves.

There are many discussions that have been conducted throughout the ages which have each made their own attempt to decipher the meaning and purpose of Life. In many of these conversations though, individuals often fail to see that perhaps Life does not need a meaning or a purpose. If it does have one, this can ultimately only ever be something which we have ascribed onto it. Often without realising it, us engaging with the process of trying to ascribe a meaning and purpose to Life results in any blocks in our own conscious perception becoming a part of our understanding of any meaning and purpose of Life that we arrive at.

We can use a couple of examples to illustrate what is being implied here more clearly. Think about an individual who is constantly worried about their own health, or even their death for that matter. This person is likely to see death, or more importantly their avoidance of death, as being a large part of the purpose and meaning of their life. We may see a person like this become obsessed with activities related to their own health, consciously or subconsciously, such as trying to reverse the aging process or staying young. Likewise, any individual who is obsessed with amassing wealth and power, perhaps owing to the fact that they grew up in a poor household, will think that the purpose and meaning of life for them is to try to become rich and powerful.

These are just a couple of examples listed to illustrate the point, but the reader can use them as a basis for considering other positions that we often find ourselves, or those around us, holding when trying to understand the meaning and purpose of Life. You could even take a brief moment now to think of some of the meanings and purposes that you have projected onto Life. Doing this simple task can become a valuable exercise that reveals to you where certain blocks in your own conscious perception lie. Essentially though, bringing us back to the topic at hand, the important reason for mentioning this is for the reader to see that it is only ever us who can project our own meaning and purpose onto Life.
